Η ποιότητα των υπηρεσιών υγείας στην Ελλάδα δεν είναι ικανοποιητική. Τα νοσοκοµεία του ΕΣΥ υποχρηµατοδοτούνται, υποστελεχώνονται, κακοδιοικούνται και παρέχουν χαµηλής ποιότητας ξενοδοχειακές υπηρεσίες, µε αποτέλεσµα να µην ικανοποιούνται επαρκώς οι χρήστες των υπηρεσιών τους, οι οποίοι καταφεύγουν τελικά σε ιδιωτικές κλινικές επιβαρύνοντας τα ατοµικά και οικογενειακά εισοδήµατα.

Πιο συγκεκριμένα, σύμφωνα με μια πρόσφατη έρευνα τον Απρίλιο 2015, η εταιρεία διαΝΕΟσις προσπάθησε να χαρτογραφήσει την κατάσταση της υγείας των Ελλήνων και την κατάσταση των δομών υγείας της χώρας μετά από έξι χρόνια κρίσης. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, καταγράφηκαν τα εξής:
- Παρατηρείται επιδείνωση της υγείας, κυρίως της ψυχικής, ιδιαίτερα για τα κατώτερα στρώματα.
- Λήψη μειωμένης ιατρικής περίθαλψης, ειδικά για τους ανέργους και τους συνταξιούχους.
- Γίνεται προβληματική η πρόσβαση στο φάρμακο.
- Αυξάνονται οι ιδιωτικές δαπάνες υγείας.
- Επιβαρύνονται οικονομικά όλες οι εισοδηματικές κατηγορίες.
