Έχουμε να κάνουμε με μια τριλογία που μπορεί να δώσει στον καθένα από μας να καταλάβει τι είναι ο κινηματογράφος και να κάνει και τον πιο δύσπιστο να καταλάβει γιατί υπάρχει κόσμος που ζει και αναπνέει για χάρη του. Μέσω αυτών των ταινιών είναι εύκολο να καταλάβει κανείς γιατί ο κινηματογράφος είναι εκείνη η μορφή τέχνης που όταν θέλει μπορεί να θέσει όλες τις άλλες στην υπηρεσία της και με έναν τρόπο σχεδόν μαγικό να μας κάνει να ανυπομονούμε για την επόμενη σκηνή της.
Η πρόθεση του Κριστόφ Κισλόφσκι ήταν να δημιουργήσει μια ταινία για την ελευθερία, την ισότητα και την ελευθερία και όχι για την εθνική υπόσταση αυτών ούτε για το πως τις συναντάμε γύρω μας, αλλά κυρίως για το πως αντιμετωπίζουμε τις τρεις αυτές αξίες απ`όσα κουβαλάμε μέσα μας.
