Οι Άγιοι Εφτά Παίδες ήταν Μικρασιάτες άγιοι, συγκεκριμένα από την Έφεσο της Ιωνίας για αυτό και αποκαλούνται «Άγιοι Εφτά Παίδες εν Εφέσω». Τα ονόματα τους ήταν Μαξιμιλιανός, Ιάμβλιχος, Μαρτινιανός, Διονύσιος, Αντωνίνος, Κωνσταντίνος και Εξακουστοδιανός και έζησαν στα χρόνια του αυτοκράτορα Δεκίου (249 - 251 μ.Χ.). Όταν ο βασιλιάς ανακάλυψε την κρυψώνα τους και τους βρήκε νεκρούς, διέταξε να σφραγιστεί με μία μεγάλη πέτρα η είσοδος της σπηλιάς. Μετά από 194 χρόνια (περί το 446 μ.Χ.), επί Θεοδοσίου του Μικρού, εμφανίστηκε στην Έφεσο κάποια αίρεση που δίδασκε κατά της ανάστασης νεκρών. Εκείνη την εποχή, εμφανίστηκε ένα παιδί στην αγορά της Εφέσου και αγόρασε ψωμί με το νόμισμα της εποχής του Δεκίου, γεγονός ανεξήγητο.
