Despite the progress it has made in several scientific fields, in several cases, medical science is unable to provide assistance to end-stage patients. Euthanasia and medically assisted suicide provide the possibility of speed up impending death and relief from the unbearable pain experienced by the suffering individuals. The present work investigates whether the practice of euthanasia could maintain the autonomy of end-stage patients. The definition of euthanasia is presented and the more specific forms in which it is distinguished, a historical review of the subprints received by the term "euthanasia" from antiquity to the modern age is attempted, and the legal treatment of it is reported in International and national level. Then there are two cases of a number of sufferers who have a moral concern, which concerns the preservation of the dignity of human existence, the duty of medical staff, the right of copyright related Decision-making and the impact of euthanasia's practice on the social context.
