Να σημειωθεί πως αν τα κινητά τηλέφωνα εξέπεμπαν ιονίζουσα ακτινοβολία δεν θα επιτρεπόταν η χρήση τους, αφού θα ήταν ραδιενεργά. Σύμφωνα με έρευνα κάθε Έλληνας έχει 1,7 κινητά πράγμα που δηλώνει την εξάρτηση των Ελλήνων από την κινητή τηλεφωνία. Λόγω της σχετικά μικρής, χρονικά, διάρκειας χρήσης κινητών οι μελέτες δεν είναι απόλυτα ασφαλής αν και κατά μεγάλο ποσοστό χαρακτηρίζονται αξιόπιστες. Αξιοσημείωτο είναι ότι οι μελέτες από ανεξάρτητους επιστήμονες είναι πολύ πιο αξιόπιστες από αυτές που χρηματοδοτούνται από εταιρίες κινητής τηλεφωνίας. Διότι παρατηρείται συχνά από το αποτέλεσμα αυτών οι εταιρίες να έχουν ένα κέρδος. Έτσι δεν θα ήταν πρωτοφανές να διαστρεβλώνεται η αλήθεια για να εξυπηρετηθούν οικονομικά συμφέροντα των εταιριών.
Επιπροσθέτως, θα ήταν μεγάλη παράληψη να μην αναφέρουμε τις επιπτώσεις που υπάρχουν και στα οικοσυστήματα εξαιτίας της εκπομπής ακτινοβολίας από τις κεραίες κινητής τηλεφωνίας.
Τα παλαιότερα χρόνια οι κεραίες ήταν λιγότερες και συνήθως σε αραιοκατοικημένες περιοχές με αποτέλεσμα να έχουν μεγαλύτερη ισχύ. Όμως η ανάγκη των εταιριών για μεγαλύτερη πληθυσμιακή κάλυψη και για να ικανοποιήσουν την αυξανόμενη ζήτηση για μεταφορά δεδομένων από τους χρήστες κινητών τηλεφώνων αυξάνει συνεχώς τον αριθμό των κεραιών. Ιδιαίτερα ανησυχητικό είναι το γεγονός ότι οι εταιρίες «καμουφλάρουν» τις κεραίες ώστε να μην γίνεται αντιληπτό από τους κατοίκους της περιοχής ότι υπάρχει κεραία κοντά τους και να μην δημιουργηθεί πρόβλημα με τις άδειες, αν και οι περισσότερες λειτουργούν παράνομα.
