Η βαλίτσα, ένα από τα χαρακτηριστικά στοιχεία με τα οποία ο καλλιτέχνης καταφέρνει να αποδράσει από την πραγματικότητα, ενσωματώθηκε στις συνθέσεις του σε συνδυασμό με τις έντονες χρωματικές αντιθέσεις και τα περιγράμματα, καλύπτοντας όλο και μεγαλύτερες επιφάνειες με πλακάτο χρώμα. Για τον Ακριθάκη η βαλίτσα αποτέλεσε ένα επαναλαμβανόμενο σύμβολο φυγής, έννοια που όχι μόνο είχε βιώσει ο ίδιος, αλλά που ήταν αρκετά διαδεδομένη εκείνη την περίοδο.
