Η εργασία κυμαίνεται ανάμεσα στα θεωρητικά πεδία, όπως οι ορισμοί που χαρακτηρίζουν τον μινιμαλισμό και η ιστορική του εξέλιξη και μιας διαφορετικής προσέγγισης του μέσα από την ανάλυση της εφαρμογής του σήμερα που διαγράφει όμως το μέλλον του.
Η έρευνα δομείται σε 3 ενότητες. Το υλικό για τις δυο πρώτες είναι προϊόν κυρίως βιβλιογραφικής έρευνας, και λιγότερο διαδικτυακών πηγών ως πηγή εικόνων κυρίως, ενώ η δεύτερη βασίζεται σε διαδικτυακές πηγές και μικρές απαραίτητες αναφορές από την βιβλιογραφία.
Στον επίλογο όπου τίθενται ερωτήματα και προβληματισμοί καθώς και συμπεράσματα από την έρευνα που πραγματοποιήθηκε ,πρόκειται καθαρά για προσωπική προσέγγιση.
Στην πρώτη ενότητα θα προσδιοριστεί ο μινιμαλισμός και οι αρχές που τον διέπουν μέσω ορισμών και αφορισμών. Θα μελετηθεί ως έννοια , σε σχέση με την έννοια της απλότητας ,ώστε να προσδιοριστεί ο υβριδικός του χαρακτήρας. Θα ακολουθήσει μια ανάλυση του θεωρητικού χώρου που συνοδεύει τον μινιμαλισμό μέσω ιστορικής αναδρομής στο κίνημα του μοντερνισμού από όπου πηγάζει.
Η δεύτερη ενότητα δανείζεται από τον χώρο της μόδας την έκφραση ( Haute couture) για να καταστήσει κατανοητό το πώς λειτούργησε των έργο των πρωτεργατών του μινιμαλισμού. Αυτούς που χάραξαν την γραμμή, που έδειξαν την τάση και άνοιξαν τον δρόμο προς πως μια νέα πραγματικότητα στον σχεδιασμό, την αρχιτεκτονική και τις τέχνες. Η περιγραφή του έργου δύο ακραίων μινιμαλιστών, του αρχιτέκτονα Mies Van Der Rohe που θα μας επιτρέψει να εντρυφήσουμε στον λιτό σχεδιασμό , τον τρόπο σκέψης και τις αιτίες ίσως, πίσω από αυτήν την τάση που έγινε κίνημα, και του εικαστικού Donald Judd και το καινοτόμο αρχιτεκτονικό του δημιούργημα στην έρημο Marfa του Τέξας που θα μας οδηγήσει ως γέφυρα στην επόμενη ενότητα.
Στην τρίτη ενότητα (sur mesure) δηλαδή ο σχεδιασμός κατά παραγγελία, ερευνάτε το πώς στην σημερινή εποχή, μπορεί να εφαρμοστεί ο μινιμαλισμός όχι ως επανάληψη της επανάληψης όπως έχουμε δει όλοι, στο pret a porter, με την έννοια της επανάληψης και της κονσερβοποίησής του, αλλά ως βάση για μια νέα ελπιδοφόρα αρχιτεκτονική και αρχιτεκτονική εσωτερικών χώρων. Ο τρόπος με τον οποίο συνεργάζεται τόσο εννοιολογικά όσο και πρακτικά, με άλλα στυλ , όπου το καθιστούν κυρίαρχο συνθετικό εργαλείο, ως πρότυπο δομής για έναν νέο αρχιτεκτονικό σχεδιασμό.
Θα παρατεθούν χαρακτηριστικά παραδείγματα έργων τουριστικών καταλυμάτων και θέρετρων σε διαφορετικά μήκη και πλάτη του πλανήτη τα οποία λαμβάνουν υπ’ όψιν ,τα ιδιαίτερα χαρακτηριστικά του τοπίου και της παράδοσης του κάθε τόπου και πραγματοποιούν μία σύνθεση βασισμένη στο μινιμαλιστικό σχεδιασμό .
Μέσω σχολιασμών και περιγραφής των παραδειγμάτων τίθενται υπό ανάλυση τρεις κύριες παράμετροι , που απασχολούν την σύγχρονή αρχιτεκτονική: η οικολογία, η πρακτική σε συνδυασμό με την ‘‘υψηλή τέχνη’’, και ο σεβασμός στην παράδοση.
Στο τέλος παρατίθενται τα αντίστοιχα συμπεράσματα, τα οποία αποτελούν προϊόν της ερμηνευτικής μεθόδου, εφαρμοσμένης στη βιβλιογραφική και διαδικτυακή έρευνα, από εικονογράφηση μέσω συναφών παραδειγμάτων αλλά και προσωπικής προσέγγισης.
