Το δόγμα Τρούμαν διατυπώθηκε το Μάρτιο 1947 από τον Πρόεδρο των ΗΠΑ Χάρι Τρούμαν που αφορούσε την πολιτική της οικονομικής και στρατιωτικής ενίσχυσης της Ελλάδας και της Τουρκίας ώστε να αποτραπεί η πτώση τους στην Σοβιετική σφαίρα επιρροής. Το δόγμα Τρούμαν εφαρμόστηκε μέσω του Σχεδίου Μάρσαλ που εξαγγέλθηκε τον ίδιο χρόνο και αποσκοπούσε στην παροχή οικονομικής βοήθειας σε χώρες της Ευρώπης, βλ. J.
